Resonance of Memory
Historically, memory has served as an important factor in architecture, and humans have honored or celebrated objects they wish to remember by engraving them on solid stones. The monument built on the horribly burned “Jeam-ri Church Site” is all the more important in that sense.
기억의 울림
역사적으로 기억은 건축에 있어서 중요한 요소로 작용했고, 인간은 견고한 돌에 기억들을 새김으로써 기억하고자 하는 대상에게 경의를 표하거나 기념해 왔다. 이렇듯 참혹하게 불타 없어진 ‘제암리 교회터’에 세워진 기념비는 그런 의미에서 가치가 더욱 더 중요하다.
